Vicki is from the ultimate American television family. Dad was a pioneer in educational broadcasting, ABC’s Director of Programming and Chairman of NYU’s School of Film and Television. Goggin family dinners were hushed as he, Vicki and brother Richard, himself now a fifty-fold Emmy, Effie and Addy award winner, stared intently at the dining room TV …
But let’s fast forward to Vicki Goggin & Associates Casting:
That began as a Los Angeles commercial casting haven for the directors at film and television production companies The Bedford Falls Group (Edward Zwick, Mark Piznarski and Marshall Herkovitz) and Industrial Light and Magic (Joe Johnston, Steve Beck, Matthew Robbins …) and for directors Jeremiah Chechik, Vadim Perelman, David Bailey, Daniel Barber and the roster at RSA-London. Vicki’s heavy-duty New York theatrical foundation and insatiable enthusiasm for showing clients those extraordinary faces to which they had not yet been exposed (or relentlessly subjected) became indelible trademarks.
Comedy and Kids are longtime specialties and areas on which Vicki focused as Saatchi & Saatchi’s New York casting director and as Jim Jordan’s hand picked casting director for his Welch’s, Tonka, Playskool, Nestlé, Sega, Chef Boyardee, Quaker Oats and Procter & Gamble brands.
Clients are also accustomed to her company’s guerilla approach to real people, taping not just in theoretical trenches but literally under ships, in closets (that would be the Armenian wedding Vicki crashed), in freezers and hotel bathrooms … anywhere an unshakeable sense of humor and drive will take them. Some directors have made their specs mercilessly bizarre just to try and trip them up (doesn’t work). Best Buy, Ford, BMW and other advertisers use their approachability and magical knack for coaching performances out of real people, sending them off to wrangle their own employees and customers around the country.
And now with the approach of 2018:
Vicki has raised the bar for the new trends in casting. Her signature Docu-Style Performance genre combines skills with real people and actor-driven naturalism. Foreign Language casting, a research-heavy treasure hunt, is a second niche. Non Union Casting is her other territory … twice the work of SAG casting when done with expertise and discipline, but ultimately three times the rewards. Just ask her.
